Homework Guidelines

Homework Guidelines-World History

1. Homework assignments may change. Please check the blog regularly and update planners as necessary.

2. Current Events assignments are due every other Friday, as noted.

3. Homework should be completed the day assigned and is due the next class unless otherwise noted.

4. Students should spend no more than 60 minutes per class on their World History homework. If it is taking longer they should stop after one hour and see me for homework help. Exceptions: Preparing for Mid-Term & Final Exams.

5. The students need to take primary responsibility for their work. They should determine the quality of their work. If the work is not acceptable, the teacher will explain that to them and improvement will be expected.

6. If you are absent, your homework is due at the beginning of your first class back.

Personal Finance Bootcamp-2018

The Personal Finance Boot Camp consists of a series of activities from various sources, including the Econlowdown website, the below blog activities, and written activities.  Together, they will provide you with a solid background in Personal Financial Literacy.

      




Directions:  Complete the following activities as directed:

Activity #1

Read the article at the link above and write a paragraph describing what to do if your debt zone is:
  • less than 15%
  • between 15 and 20%
  • over 20%  
Title the paragraph: Activity #6  "Debt Zone" and submit it the class after it is assigned.

Activity #2

Read the article at the link above and complete the activity at the link below and submit it the class after it is assigned. Write "Activity #7" next to your name.



Activity #3-Credit Scores
 
Part I-Read and take notes on the articles on credit reports at the links above.  Create a works cited for all of your sources and take notes as directed.  After your research is complete, you will form groups of 3-4 people +/- and write, film, edit, and produce a 60 second commercial on credit scores. Your works cited and individual notes and submit it the class after it is assigned, labeled "Activity #3  Credit Score Research".

Part II-You will have to plan you commercial as a group by making a storyboard for each scene.  To do this you will use the story board template at the link below. Each member must produce at least two story boards.  You should  submit,it the class after it is assigned. with your name and "Activity #8" written on each story board.

A Quick Guide To Your Emergency Fund/Emergency Fund Worksheet

Read A Quick Guide To Your Emergency Fund.  Using the monthly figures from your budget project, complete the handout worksheet "Emergency Fund Worksheet" to calculate how much you would need for an emergency fund.  Title it Activity #2 and submit it the class after it is assigned.

Read the article at the link above and take neat readable bulleted notes describing the six types of fraud and how to protect yourself.  Title the notes: "Activity #3 Common Types of Fraud to Watch Out For" and and submit it the class after it is assigned.

Identity Theft


Read the article at the link above and work with a partner to write the script of a public service commercial about how identity theft occurs.  Title the script: "Activity #4  Know How People Steal Your Identity" and be sure to put each partner's name on it.  Print two copies of the script. Each partner should submit one copy the class after it is assigned..

Public Service Announcement Article


Read the article at the link above and draw-or create using a computer program such as Photoshop-an 8-1/2" x11" scale model of a billboard advertising how to protect yourself from identity theft .  Title your work: Activity #4b  "Protect Yourself From Identity Theft" and submit it to your folder.

Read the article at the link above and take neat readable bulleted notes describing two key aspects of each of the money apps listed.  Title the notes: "Activity #5  Making Sense Of Money Apps" and and submit it the class after it is assigned.

Read the article on Income Taxes at the link above.  Write a 250-500 word advice column answering the question, "How should I go about filing my income taxes?". Title the Advice Column: "Activity #10   Five Steps For Doing Your Own Taxes" and submit it the class after it is assigned.

Read the article at the link above and take neat readable bulleted notes describing steps you should take before you buy something.  Title the notes: "Activity #11 Take Steps To Decide Before You Buy" and submit it the class after it is assigned..
